A list of the five most affordable apartments found on a major Russian classifieds site.
In Russia, housing prices remain high, and Murmansk is no exception. However, budget options can still be found. Reporters from 51.RU looked at a popular free classifieds website and compiled a list of the top 5 cheapest apartments in the city—one-room apartments and studios.

“Renovation Was Done, Needs Cosmetic Touch-ups”

The most budget studio in Murmansk is located in a nine-story building in the Pervomaysky District, not far from the Industrial College. Its area is 17 square meters (183 sq ft), and the cost is 1,150,000 rubles (approx. $13,500 at current rates), or 67,647 rubles (approx. $795) per square meter.

“Second floor, located in a small corridor (corridor in good condition). Window faces the city. Double-glazed window installed. There was once a renovation, now it needs cosmetic work. There is a built-in wardrobe, kitchen area, refrigerator, washing machine, shower cabin. Good neighbors in the corridor. The floor is secured by an intercom,” describes the seller.

Exchange for a Two-Room Apartment with Extra Payment

Slightly more expensive is a studio in a neighboring nine-story building—1,550,000 rubles (approx. $18,200 at current rates), or 68,282 rubles (approx. $805) per square meter. The total area is 22.7 square meters (244 sq ft), the living area is 19 square meters (205 sq ft), and it is on the eighth floor.
“New renovation, new plastic pipes, new risers, double-glazed window. Quiet, decent neighbors. For sale, will consider interest-free installments, exchange for a two-room apartment with my extra payment,” states the ad.
House in a Quiet Residential District
1,600,000 rubles (approx. $18,800 at current rates), or 48,485 rubles (approx. $570) per square meter, is what a buyer will pay for a one-room apartment in Rost, on the outskirts of Murmansk. It is located in a two-story brick building. 33 square meters (355 sq ft), high ceilings, new windows and pipes, meters, and a water heater.
“The roof is in excellent condition, a major renovation was done two years ago. The house is located in a quiet residential district. Within walking distance there is a public transport stop and a grocery store. To the city center is 10–12 minutes by car,” writes the owner.
Any Form of Payment
In the residential area of Abram-Mys, a one-room apartment in a five-story panel building is being sold for 1,650,000 rubles (approx. $19,400 at current rates), or 53,226 rubles (approx. $625) per square meter. The total area is 31 square meters (334 sq ft). The apartment has had cosmetic renovations:
“Window units and balcony replaced. Plumbing has also been replaced, meters installed. High-quality entrance door. Any form of payment.”
Warm Studio with Furniture
The fifth apartment in the ranking is again a studio in the Industrial College area. It also costs 1,650,000 rubles (approx. $19,400 at current rates), or 71,739 rubles (approx. $845) per square meter, with an area of 23 square meters (248 sq ft). Located on the 9th floor.
“The studio apartment is in excellent living condition. Very warm. Neighbors on the floor are decent. Cosmetic renovation done, double-glazed window installed. Not a corner unit, very bright. The roof doesn«t leak. The room is zoned (modular kitchen, sleeping area). All furniture remains, appliances partially,” says the seller.
