Moscow School No. 338 and St. Petersburg State Marine Technical University (SPbGMTU) have signed a strategic cooperation agreement. As part of the partnership, a training and practice center for engineering competencies will be created at the new educational complex Korabelka in New Moscow.
The Korabelka complex, named after the informal name of the St. Petersburg university, includes a school for 1,275 students and a kindergarten for 200 children. It is being built in the Zen Quarters district on the shore of Ivanovsky Pond.
The collaboration aims to train a new generation of engineering personnel.
«The complex combines the maritime and shipbuilding school of St. Petersburg with the traditionally Moscow «air» and space themes,» notes Yulia Chernets, head of the Social Facilities directorate at GC A101. «Students of Korabelka will study technologies at the intersection of water and air environments.»
With the university’s support, educational courses will be developed, such as «Marine Robotics and Ship Modeling,» «Laser Optics,» «Computer Modeling and Design,» and «Technological Entrepreneurship.» Interdisciplinary subjects will also be included in the curricula: hydroaerodynamics, study of unmanned aerial and marine systems, materials science for extreme environments, and environmental modeling.
Schoolchildren at the center will be able to attend master classes led by leading professors and associate professors from SPbGMTU. Graduate and postgraduate students from the university will assist them in working on real engineering projects, such as building underwater robots.
Virtual and online tours are planned to familiarize students with the university’s laboratories and pools in St. Petersburg. Additionally, the possibility of opening specialized engineering classes with in-depth study of physics, mathematics, and computer science at Korabelka is being considered.
The complex will feature engineering and IT classes with software for 3D modeling and complex calculations, a hackathon zone for building prototypes and developing startups, and VR laboratories. The classrooms will be equipped with mini-pools for studying the laws of motion, and on the shore of Ivanovsky Pond, embankments with boathouses and a pier for testing models of ships and underwater vehicles will be created.
