A lawsuit from former Chelyabinsk police chief Andrei Menshenin has been filed with the Central District Court. He aims to challenge his dismissal from the police department, as per court records.

The court accepted the documents on January 16, with no hearing date set yet. Menshenin«s wife, Irina, filed a similar lawsuit regarding her dismissal from the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (GU MVD) on December 8 of last year. The first hearing in her case is scheduled for February 19 at the Central District Court.

We contacted the Menshenins to ask why they believe their dismissals were unlawful. However, they declined to comment.

Recall that a rough patch for the Menshenin family began this fall. First, Andrei Menshenin himself was suspended from his position, then it became known that his wife was under an internal investigation; she worked as the head of the financial and economic department at the Center for Economic and Service Support of the regional GU MVD.

Menshenin«s suspension and internal investigation were linked to detentions in the city traffic police. FSB officers, together with operatives from the GU MVD»s own security department, detained Oleg Zhilyaev, deputy head of the Chelyabinsk traffic police.
