The prosecutor«s office of Yakutia has sent to court the case concerning a bus that fell into an abyss with shift workers in the Neryungri District. According to the investigation, the driver fell asleep at the wheel. This was reported on January 26 in the Telegram channel of the agency.

Since the accused died in the accident, a close relative will represent him. In the accident, 13 people died, and two were seriously injured.

The driver of the bus was Sergei Naidenko, friends remembered him as a kind and cheerful man, and they also noted his professionalism and lack of accidents.

The tragedy occurred on July 21 on the closed territory of the Denisovsky Mining and Processing Plant (GOK). There were 31 passengers in the cabin of the NEFAZ-4208-34 bus. Investigators initiated two criminal cases — for providing services that do not meet safety requirements for the life and health of consumers, resulting in the death of two or more persons through negligence, as well as for violating traffic rules and the operation of vehicles. The head of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, took control of the situation.

After the tragedy in the Neryungri District, a day of mourning was declared, and a hotline was opened for the families of the deceased and injured. The head of the republic, Aisen Nikolaev, flew to the site, and the mayor of Yakutsk, Evgeny Grigoriev, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.
