A head-on collision between a Jetour and a Mitsubishi occurred on January 25 on the Orzhitsy–Petrovskoye highway in the Lomonosov District. Among the four injured was a 27-year-old resident of St. Petersburg, who was in her third trimester of pregnancy.
As a result of the accident, the woman suffered a uterine rupture, leading to the immediate death of the fetus. She was delivered unconscious to the Leningrad Regional Perinatal Center with blood loss of over 70%, critically low blood pressure, and in the terminal stage of hemorrhagic shock.
For the emergency transfusion, all available blood component reserves at the perinatal center were used. Additional volumes of blood were promptly delivered from the Leningrad Regional Blood Center.
After stopping the bleeding and restoring blood volume, the patient was transferred to the intensive care unit of Gatchina Hospital. Initially, the possibility of air ambulance helicopter transport to the Leningrad Regional Clinical Hospital was considered, but this became unnecessary.
The perinatal center named the doctors involved in the rescue: «The names of the doctors who saved her life: operating obstetrician-gynecologist of LOPC Konstantin Petrovich Merkulov, anesthesiologist-resuscitator of LOPC Yulia Nikolaevna Derevonina, on-duty surgeon of Gatchina CMB Sergey Alekseevich Rodionov, transfusion specialist of LOPC and Gatchina CMB Kirill Viktorovich Ryazanov.» The woman«s condition is now stable.
According to available information, in the Jetour car, a 26-year-old driver was also injured. In the Mitsubishi, a 43-year-old woman and a 13-year-old teenager sustained injuries.
