Ural Teenagers Help Put Out Fire in Pensioner's House

Details have emerged about the fire that occurred on the evening of 25 January at 42 Kooperativnaya Street in Bolshoy Istok. The teenagers who helped extinguish the blaze shared how they found themselves at the scene of the emergency.

«We were walking home from training with friends. In the distance, we saw a fire and ran to see what had happened. When we arrived, we saw that a house was burning, we asked people for shovels and started putting it out. There were a lot of people, everyone pitched in, the little kids threw snowballs, others covered everything with snow,» said Timofey.
According to the boy, it took about an hour and a half to fight the fire. After putting out the blaze, the kids talked to the homeowner and found out what happened.
«We talked to the grandma whose house burned down. She told us that she bought a TV, turned it on, and it started smoking, then caught fire,» explained the young man.
Another schoolboy, Artyom, also happened to be at the scene. He and his friends came to assist the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) in putting out the fire.
«We saw that a house was burning, decided to go see what was happening and how. In the end, when we arrived, we saw that the guys were actively helping the firefighters put out the house, and we decided to help the firefighters too,» said Artyom.
According to him, apart from the fire brigade, about 15 people participated in extinguishing the fire, most of them teenagers.
Previously, a firefighter explained which houses are most dangerous to live in and who has a chance to escape from a burning apartment. For example, one of the basic rules is not to try to escape through a smoke-filled stairwell.
