Trains to Volgograd and Kamyshin delayed 4–8 hours
Passenger trains traveling from Moscow to Volgograd and Kamyshin are severely delayed due to a freight train derailment carrying gasoline.

Train traffic on the southern route has been disrupted due to a major railway accident. Federal Passenger Company (FPC) warned of significant delays for two trains from Moscow to Volgograd and Kamyshin. The cause was a derailment of cars carrying petroleum products followed by a fire at Kochetovka-2 station in Tambov Oblast, central Russia.
The incident occurred on 4 February at 15:34 Moscow Time. On its Telegram channel, Russian Railways (RZD) said: «According to preliminary information, there are no casualties. Fire and recovery trains have been dispatched to the site. Train movement through the station has been suspended. An operational headquarters has been set up at RZD to manage the aftermath. Delays are expected for southbound trains. The causes of the incident are being established.»
Investigators quickly responded. The Western Interregional Transport Investigative Directorate has opened a criminal case under an article on violation of railway transport safety rules resulting in major damage.
According to the latest data, 16 passenger trains are delayed due to the accident. Among them are trains heading to Volgograd and Volgograd Oblast:
- Premium train No. 2 «Moscow — Volgograd» is running approximately 249 minutes late and is expected at its final destination around 11 a.m.
- Train No. 380 «Moscow — Kamyshin», which has already passed Tambov-1 station, is 479 minutes behind schedule, nearly 8 hours.
