Timofey, one of the young heroes, described the events in detail: «My friends and I were walking home from training. We saw a fire in the distance and ran to see what happened. When we arrived, we saw that the house was on fire, we asked people for shovels and started extinguishing it. There were a lot of people, everyone helped as they could, little kids threw snowballs, others covered everything with snow.»
It took about an hour and a half to put out the fire. After the fire was extinguished, the guys spoke with the homeowner, a pensioner, to find out the cause of the ignition.
«We talked with the grandmother whose house burned down. She told us that she bought a TV, turned it on, and it started smoking, then caught fire,» explained Timofey.
Other local residents also joined in to help. Schoolboy Artyom said that he and his friends were also nearby: «We saw that the house was on fire, decided to go see what was happening. In the end, when we came, we saw that the guys were actively helping the firefighters extinguish the house, and we decided to help the firefighters too.»
According to Artyom, about 15 people participated in extinguishing the fire, not counting the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS), most of whom were teenagers.
