Road conflicts in St. Petersburg feature gas, beatings, and weapon threats

Two incidents with a seven-minute difference occurred in the morning of January 30 in different districts of the city and led to arrests.

On the morning of January 30, in St. Petersburg, two conflicts between drivers occurred almost simultaneously. According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city and region (GU MVD), both cases are under investigation, and the participants have been taken to police stations.

The first incident was recorded at 10:27 on Lensoveta Street in the Moskovsky District. According to preliminary data, a driver of a Mercedes-Benz, born in 1980, kicked the bumper of a Kia Rio. In response, a man born in 1988, who was driving the Kia, used a pepper spray canister against his opponent. The police squad that arrived detained both participants of the conflict. Administrative protocols have been drawn up against them under the article on petty hooliganism. The issue of initiating a criminal case is being decided.

The next conflict occurred just seven minutes later, at 10:34, in the Frunzensky District. In the parking lot at house 12 on Bela Kuna Street, according to the victim, the driver of a Toyota Corolla hit him, sprayed pepper spray, and threatened him with a pistol. A 39-year-old local resident sought medical help and was released for outpatient treatment.

On the same day, police detained the suspect—a 21-year-old driver of the Toyota. The detention took place at house 60 on Sofiyskaya Street. A criminal case has already been initiated against the young man under the article on hooliganism.
