Court seizes vehicles and cottage from former Chelyabinsk traffic police chief

The Central District Court of Chelyabinsk partially granted the prosecutor«s lawsuit and ordered the seizure of property from former city traffic police chief Alexander Gaide. The following will become state property:

- three passenger cars;
- three trucks;
- a cottage and a land plot.

The court decision was announced on January 31 by senior assistant prosecutor of Chelyabinsk Region Natalya Mamaeva. The lawsuit was filed because Gaide could not prove the legality of income exceeding 16 million rubles (about $160,000 at current rates), which was used to acquire this property. The basis was materials from a joint inspection by the prosecutor«s office and the regional FSB department.
«The inspection found that the defendant used his managerial position and strong business connections for enrichment. To conceal his actual property status, he registered property in the names of close relatives,» the prosecutor«s representative said. »In addition, he conducted business activities in the name of a close relative.«
Alexander Gaide served as head of Chelyabinsk traffic police until May 2024, after which he was appointed head of the FCU «Center for Economic and Service Support of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Chelyabinsk Region». His detention by FSB officers occurred on May 15, 2025.
According to the investigation, Gaide for several years patronized the company «Kapitalstroy». Subordinates, on his orders, did not respond to the company«s violations in the operation of freight transport. Bribes were given in the form of money, cars, construction materials, and household appliances. Currently, the accused is held in a pre-trial detention center.
Data from the «Kontur.Fokus» service indicate that LLC «Kapitalstroy» is registered in Chelyabinsk and is engaged in the construction of highways. The owners are Romik Vardanyan (50% of the charter capital) and director Igor Kazantsev (the remaining 50%). The company«s revenue for 2024 reached 852.4 million rubles (about $8.5 million at current rates), net profit was 25.2 million rubles (about $252,000). The firm actively participated in government procurement, concluding over 30 contracts for a total of 3.9 billion rubles (about $39 million). Last year, it repaired roads in the Etkulsky district and Kyshtym, previously in Kunashak, Nyazepetrovsk, Verkhny Ufaley, and other settlements.
