Mass Accident on Krasnodar-Goryachy Klyuch Highway Due to Ice
On the morning of January 26, witnesses reported on social media about a mass accident on the highway between Krasnodar and Goryachy Klyuch (in the Molkino area). The cause was an iced-over road.
«Drivers tried to avoid a collision by emergency braking, but poor road conditions led to cars continuing to slide and crashing into each other,» witnesses write.
According to the Yandex Probki (Yandex Traffic) service, traffic is indeed difficult on the highway in the Molkino area, and several accidents have been recorded.
According to the regional State Traffic Inspectorate (GAI), about eight traffic accidents occurred on this section of the highway. Approximately 20 vehicles were damaged. Traffic from the 1362nd to the 1365th kilometer (toward Krasnodar) is open in one lane.
On the morning of January 26, the regional State Traffic Inspectorate asked drivers to refrain from trips due to icy conditions. And if they must go on the roads, to use only winter tires and avoid sudden braking.
