In Krasnodar, about 130 road accidents occurred on the morning of 26 January due to icy roads, according to data from the Krasnodar Krai State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (GAI).

By 9:00 a.m., the regional traffic police (GIBDD) units had received over 200 requests to file reports on road accidents with mechanical damage, most of them from the city of Krasnodar.

The GAI noted that the spike in accidents was caused by severe black ice on the roads and urged drivers to avoid using personal vehicles unless absolutely necessary. Those who must drive were advised to use winter tires and avoid sudden maneuvers.

In the morning, there was also a report of a mass collision on the Krasnodar–Goryachy Klyuch highway near the village of Molkino. Eyewitnesses said cars began to slide on the icy road, and drivers« attempts at emergency braking only led to further collisions.

The Krasnodar Unified Duty Dispatch Service also appealed to pedestrians to be more careful and, if possible, wear flat shoes to reduce the risk of falls.
