Early this morning, January 26, around 4:35 AM, a fatal traffic accident occurred at a railway crossing in Stary Kirovsk. A passenger car was struck by a freight train between the Vkhodnaya and Karbyshevo-2 stations, according to the Telegram channel of the West Siberian Railway, «News of the ZSZhD».

According to the company, at the crossing where the tragedy occurred, there was no attendant on duty, and the car drove onto the tracks directly in front of the approaching train.

The engineer applied emergency braking, but the distance was insufficient, and the collision could not be avoided. According to preliminary information, the driver of the car died as a result of the accident, the ZSZhD reported.

The freight train itself did not derail as a result of the accident, and the incident did not affect the schedule of passenger trains.

Earlier, Omsk residents were warned about a dangerous section of the road on the Left Bank — accidents constantly occur there. Why the risk of accidents is so high on this highway and when it was last repaired can be found out here.
