Car crushed in half in collision with freight train, photos show
A 37-year-old driver of a Lada Priora died after running a red light and colliding with a freight train at a railroad crossing in Omsk, police said. Photos from the scene show the vehicle was nearly split in two.

Photos from the scene of an accident at a railroad crossing have appeared on the Telegram channel of the Omsk Police. According to the department, a 37-year-old driver of a Lada Priora ran a red light.
«Police officers who arrived at the scene have preliminarily established that at the railroad crossing at the 7-kilometer point of the Karbysheva-1 to Karbysheva-2 section, the driver entered on a red light and collided with a freight electric locomotive pulling 66 cars.»
The accident occurred today, 26 January 2026, at 4:40 a.m.; the driver of the Lada died at the scene. An investigation is currently underway, and upon its completion, the final causes and circumstances of the crash will be determined. Published photos show the car was nearly torn in half by the impact, and its windows were blown out.
Recall that the Telegram channel of the West Siberian Railway reported that there was no attendant on duty at the crossing where the tragedy occurred. The car drove onto the tracks right in front of the approaching train.
