Bus with athletes breaks down en route to MMA tournament

On Saturday, January 31, a bus broke down on the Chelyabinsk–Troitsk highway while transporting young athletes to a mixed martial arts (MMA) competition in Yuzhnouralsk. The information was confirmed by the press service of the regional State Traffic Inspectorate (GAI).
The PAZ bus suddenly malfunctioned. The cause was a failure of the braking system, which made further movement impossible and unsafe,« the GAI reported. »Traffic police officers, upon receiving the information, immediately went to the scene.
To evacuate the competition participants, a reserve bus was quickly called. Representatives of the MMA Federation of Chelyabinsk Oblast stated that the entire operation to replace the transport took about 15 minutes.
The children are all right. We solved the problem ourselves and called a reserve bus,« the organization»s press service reported.
This weekend in Yuzhnouralsk, the Chelyabinsk Oblast championship and tournament in MMA are being held. Athletes aged 16 to 20 are participating in the competitions, and the tournament is held in the men«s category.
