Bus veers into ditch after head-on crash near Novorossiysk

On the highway near Novorossiysk on the morning of 26 January, a head-on collision occurred between a passenger car and a bus. This was reported by the city mayor, Andrey Kravchenko.

Authorities reported no injuries among the bus passengers and driver.

The accident occurred in the area of the Semigorsky hamlet. After the impact, the bus left the roadway and ended up in a ditch. There were 22 passengers and the driver inside — all of them were trapped.

Rescue workers had to extract people from the damaged vehicle.

According to preliminary information, there are no casualties. At the scene of the accident, Novorossiysk traffic police officers are working, and rescuers have also joined the efforts.

As clarified by the Novorossiysk rescue service, rescuers had to break open the windshield, after which the people were brought out. Specialists also disconnected the battery in the passenger car to prevent a fire.

The circumstances of the incident are being established. Recall that in the Krasnodar region this morning, more than 200 accidents occurred due to severe ice.

UPD: According to the Kuban (Krasnodar region) State Traffic Inspectorate, the bus passengers were taken to Novorossiysk by passing vehicles.

According to preliminary data, the accident occurred around 10:00 on the Novorossiysk–Kerch highway. The driver of a VAZ-2114 car drove into the oncoming lane and crashed into a bus traveling from Anapa to Novorossiysk. The bus veered off the road as a result of the collision.
