The kitchen in Alexey Zhidkovsky's 60-million-ruble apartment cost as much as a luxury SUV — and that's just one highlight of his hotel-inspired home.

Alexey Zhidkovsky has long been synonymous with the word “shock value.” The blogger has never hidden his love of luxury, which most often manifests in flashy outfits with sparkling jackets and leopard fur coats. But, as it turns out, the author of the catchphrase “You’ve paid for it, now swallow it,” wants simplicity and comfort when he comes home. In his home, he tried to eliminate anything flashy, though he didn«t quite succeed.

For a long time, Zhidkovsky lived in a rented 200-square-meter apartment, but by age 30 he wanted his own. His new place is smaller, 90 square meters, but here he could set everything up according to his own taste.

The blogger admits that when the designer asked what he envisioned for his apartment, he sent photos of hotels as references.

«My entire apartment is in a modern English classic style. I get enough burlesque and bright colors in Moscow at events. I want to come home and sink into my best psychological state. My references are the Four Seasons and Mandarin Oriental hotels in Paris,» the blogger said on the channel “Olga Manukyan on Real Estate.”

The craftsmen followed all his wishes and indeed made the home minimalist and visually neutral. The only thing Alexey used to decorate the white monochrome walls was stucco. But even that is sparse: a small decorative element in the guest toilet, on the kitchen cabinet doors, and under the ceiling in the bathroom.
The private bathroom has a glass partition instead of curtains, hotel style.

«I’ve always lived with stucco. We’ve got a tradition in St. Petersburg — stucco, old housing stock. It’s so close to me that I incorporated it here. I have a little St. Petersburg in big Moscow,» Zhidkovsky said with a smile, pointing to the decorations.

When designing his apartment, two things were important to Alexey: light and mirrors. He wanted to be able to see himself anywhere in the apartment and take a good photo.

«I have mirrors everywhere. I think psychologists who see this will understand that I have a narcissistic streak,» Alexey admits.

As soon as you cross the threshold, a huge mirror stands in the hallway, and there are two mirrors in the guest toilet — facing each other. According to Zhidkovsky, many advised him against such a “mirror labyrinth” because, according to superstition, negative energy can pass through it. The blogger listened, nodded, thought for a second, but left it as is. After all, it’s the toilet, which he himself hardly ever enters.

The most expensive part of the home is the kitchen. It shares an open space with the living room. On the right is a large plasma TV that the blogger got for free using loyalty points, and on the left is a huge white kitchen set. Alexey had it custom-made and waited three months. Each cabinet is made of oak with an enamel finish. There are no buttons or handles on the doors, only soft-close mechanisms.

«It cost about 70,000 to 80,000 dollars. Roughly like a Li Auto L8 SUV. It’s expensive, but it will last a lifetime,» Alexey explains.

A small stone island separates the kitchen from the living room, where the blogger does his cooking. While Zhidkovsky chops a salad or marinates meat, he likes to watch something at the same time, so this small table is essential. To save space, the oven and microwave are combined into one unit. And to save room in the fridge for drinks, he has a separate one.

Alexey doesn’t hide that he had urges to make his home “rich and flashy,” but he stopped himself and added only touches of brass and gold to the interior. For example, on floor lamps, candlesticks, and dishes. And also in the kitchen sink.

«I want to wash in gold. So that while I’m washing, there’s a party in my head. The sink is Japanese. You can’t clean it with any detergents,» the blogger boasted about his sink.

All rooms in the blogger’s home lead to a small terrace. Initially, he needed it to walk his dogs without leaving the house. But over time, Zhidkovsky realized how pleasant it is to sit in the evenings, sipping his favorite drink and watching the Moscow River with its little boats speeding by.

«I wanted a house with its own street in the territory of Moscow. When I moved in, I quite calmly didn’t go out at all for five days. I sat here and can’t say I felt detached from the world and life,» the blogger said, admiring the view.
The holy of holies of Zhidkovsky’s apartment is the walk-in closet. Clothing hangs along the perimeter of the walls, with handbags and shoes on display. It all looks like an expensive boutique: pleasant lighting, identical hangers, every item in its designated place — jackets in one section, sweaters in another.
To achieve complete harmony, Alexey had to hire a special person, an “order manager,” during the move. He paid about 100,000 rubles ($1,000 at current rates) for organizing the space.
Another room in the house is the bedroom. It also has several wardrobes with casual clothes, a table with a large mirror, and a double bed. The only decoration is a small vintage brass lamp.
In addition to the guest toilet, Zhidkovsky has his own private bathroom that no one else enters. The style is completely consistent with the rest of the home: no visual noise or clutter. The blogger opted for a clear glass partition instead of curtains, again as is customary in hotels.
Zhidkovsky also revealed how he achieved a Pinterest-worthy apartment with minimal visual noise: almost no beauty bottles, kitchen utensils, extra clothes, shoes, or accessories. It turns out that everything the blogger isn’t currently using is hidden in a storage room on the basement level.
«I go here like I’m going to the store,» the blogger jokes.
According to Zhidkovsky, the apartment cost him about 60 million rubles ($600,000 at current rates). Another 30 million ($300,000) went into renovation.
«I always say, in some strange way, the renovation always turns out to be 50% of the apartment’s price,» the blogger stated.
