In the Tyumen region, illness rates have begun to rise among adults and children. The regional Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) has explained which viruses are currently infecting people and what to do.
«For the 4th week of 2026, there has been an 18% increase in the incidence of ARVI and influenza. The epidemic threshold among the total population and in age groups has not been exceeded. Viruses of influenza and non-influenza etiology are circulating,» the Department reported.
Epidemiologists had already warned of this spike in illnesses. Moreover, another wave will soon hit the Tyumen region.
«The rise in flu during the winter period always occurs in December and January. The second wave will be in March. This is because we get vaccinated by December 1st. After a single injection, immunity develops within three to four weeks, meaning only a month after vaccination does a person become protected,» commented Andrey Pozdnyakov, MD, infectious disease specialist at INVITRO, to journalist 72.RU.
To avoid infection, public health doctors recommend that Tyumen residents use antiseptics to clean their hands before meals and after visiting public places. And in places with large gatherings of people, it is mandatory to wear medical masks and maintain social distance.
Recall that we previously reported that pneumonia is spreading in the region.
