It has been proposed to include tests for genetic predisposition to cancer, heart, and other serious diseases in the medical check-up program. Deputy of the State Duma Vladislav Davankov put forward this initiative.

«We consider it appropriate to consider the possibility of including a basic genetic test in the medical check-up program. For example, a comprehensive panel study could be introduced to detect the most common mutations associated with predisposition to oncological diseases,» TASS quotes the document.

According to the deputy, because predisposition to cancer, cardiovascular pathologies, autoimmune and metabolic disorders is not tested during medical check-ups, such diagnoses are detected too late. Timely screening for these diseases will help reduce mortality, Davankov stated.

Note that now patients who apply to hospitals under the mandatory health insurance (OMS) with suspicion of cardiovascular diseases will receive accelerated medical care. The Russian government approved this resolution last week.

However, not only changes in the speed of medical services will occur in Russia this year. Also, starting from 2026, residents of the country will be able to receive free medical care for more than 20 types of diseases and conditions.
