Siberian woman Veronika Belousova lost weight by 50 kilograms (about 110 pounds) over two and a half years. She made the decision to change her weight after landing in intensive care due to COVID-19. Back then, the scale read 140 kilograms (about 309 pounds).

Veronika Belousova quit snacking on fruit because it only made her hungrier, resorting to boiled eggs, chicken breast pieces, cottage cheese, or light cheese.

“It took three men to move me in the ICU. I was so ashamed and felt bad that they had to struggle,” Veronika admitted. “Although I liked myself even at that weight, I just realized I needed to lose weight for my health.”

She completely changed her lifestyle and diet: she began eating less, opting for healthier food, and abandoned snacks.

“The simplest and only formula for weight loss: a calorie deficit — you lose weight, a surplus — you gain weight. Provided there are no serious illnesses. There’s simply no third way,” Veronika stressed. “Don’t deceive yourself with thoughts like ‘such a constitution’ or ‘wide bones.’ Everything begins with acceptance: I am fat because I eat a lot or eat poorly.”

The most crucial thing is to return food to its purpose: it is fuel, energy for living. Food should not serve as a reward or a means to eat away stress, comfort oneself, or find support in tough times.

NGS covered Veronika«s story in more detail last week.
