Krasnodar Trauma Center Sees Over 600 Ice-Related Injuries

In Krasnodar, January was very snowy and cold: from mid-month, frosts hit and lasted several weeks. Almost every day, the roads were slippery because rain or snow fell from time to time. Authorities couldn«t keep up with treating everything with de-icing agents, so they even advised residents to walk with bent legs in small steps.
At the beginning of February, the weather worsened again, and roads and sidewalks became slippery. Minister of Health of Kuban Yevgeny Filippov said that ambulances and trauma centers in the region are operating in enhanced mode.
In January, more than 600 people sought treatment at the regional emergency hospital (B SMP) due to falls. The minister did not specify how many were injured in total in Krasnodar for the month.
«If you couldn«t avoid a fall, don»t get up immediately. In a state of shock, pain might not come right away, so it«s important to assess your condition. If you feel severe pain, numbness, or can»t move a limb, call an ambulance,» the minister reminded.
Filippov added that it«s necessary to dress warmer, preferably choosing layered clothing. Signs of hypothermia include chills, drowsiness, pale skin, slowed speech, and confusion. If these signs appear, go into a warm place and drink warm water. If you can»t warm up, call 103 or 112.
