Flu on the Rise: Over 3000 Ill in Tula Region in a Week

In the Tula region, the incidence of flu and ARVI is increasing. Just in the last week — from January 26 to February 1 — doctors registered 3,723 cases. This is 8.3% higher than the week before. At the same time, 24 cases of flu were confirmed, all through laboratory testing.
Despite the increase in the number of ill people, the epidemic threshold among individual age groups has not yet been exceeded. Specialists note that the situation generally corresponds to the usual seasonal rise in morbidity.
In educational institutions, sanitary rules continue to apply: if more than 20% of children are absent due to ARVI in a class or school, classes are temporarily suspended.
Medics remind that at the first symptoms — weakness, chills, headache, fever, runny nose, or cough — one should stay home and call a doctor, and not push through the illness. Residents are advised to avoid contact with the ill if possible, go less often to crowded places and public transport.
It is also recommended to use respiratory protection, maintain distance, wash hands more often, regularly clean gadgets, ventilate rooms, and do wet cleaning. Doctors advise spending more time outdoors and paying attention to building resistance to reduce the risk of infection during the seasonal activity of viruses.
