A large crowd formed a queue on January 25 at Yaroslavl«s Arena.2000. The reason was a concert by the popular Russian rock band Leningrad, intended for viewers over 18 years old.

The group, founded by musician Sergey Shnurov in Saint Petersburg in 1997, gained widespread fame in the early 2000s. Its signature style blends ska, punk, and rock and roll, and its lyrics are known for their provocativeness. Among the key hits of the band:

  • WWW
  • «When There»s No Money«
  • »My Name is Shnur«
  • »Exhibit«
  • »In St. Petersburg – Drink«
  • »Cabriolet«

Sergey Shnurov is also known for his political activity. In 2020, he joined the Party of Growth, but later abandoned plans to run for parliament. Since 2019, the musician has been a member of the Public Council under the State Duma Committee on Culture, which has a purely advisory role and does not grant parliamentary powers.

The concert began at 19:00, but by that time, the queue in front of the arena had not yet dissipated. Tickets were almost completely sold out — only 49 seats remained available.

It was still possible to purchase tickets right before the concert, but their cost had sharply increased. At the time of the event, the price for a seat in the hall was 5.5–7.5 thousand rubles (approximately $61–$83 at current rates), and for access to the dance floor, 8.5 thousand rubles (about $94 at current rates) was asked. For comparison, in December, prices ranged from 4.7 to 10 thousand rubles (approximately $52–$110 at current rates), and a spot on the dance floor could be bought for 5.6 thousand rubles (about $62 at current rates). The most affordable remained seated places in remote sectors.
