A critical heating situation has developed in Volgograd. Residents are reporting low temperatures not only in apartments but also at workplaces and in educational institutions.

The stream of complaints from residents began on the evening of January 20 and continued into the next morning. According to Volgograd residents, the problem is widespread.

Among specific reports received from citizens:

  • «Voroshilovsky District, Kamenskaya Street, 10. It»s been very cold in the apartments all December and January. We call and complain in writing, but nothing changes, no one cares.«
  • »Voroshilovsky District, Krasnoslobodskaya Street, 17 — cold!«
  • »Traktorozavodsky District, Lodygina Street, 4 — no heating for three days.«
  • »Krasnooktyabrsky District, Titova Street, Shtemenko, Kholzunova — it«s so freezing that we have to either turn on the gas or use heaters. The radiators are barely warm.»

Particular concern is raised by conditions in educational institutions. Parents of students at Gymnasium No. 16 in Traktorozavodsky District stated: «Our gymnasium has huge heating problems! The principal makes teachers seal the Euro-windows instead of dealing with the problem. In classrooms, it»s 12 degrees Celsius (54 degrees Fahrenheit)! At most, 15 degrees Celsius (59 degrees Fahrenheit) by the last lesson, and only if the sun shines in the windows. Children are freezing and have to wear jackets during classes.«

The collected complaints have been forwarded to the press service of the company «Koncessii Teplosnabzheniya» (Concessions of Heat Supply) for measures to be taken.

Earlier, a similar problem arose at School No. 19. At that time, according to some reports, parents were forced to buy heaters for classrooms. Utility services explained the situation as malfunctions in internal heating networks, while the school principal blamed «Koncessii Teplosnabzheniya» (Concessions of Heat Supply) for what was happening.
