Viktor Tsoi Awarded Order of Courage

In the settlement of Verkhnepogromnoye, Sredneakhtubinsky District, the family of Viktor Tsoi, killed during the special military operation in Ukraine, were presented with the Order of Courage. Corporal Tsoi was posthumously awarded the high honor for his courage and heroism while carrying out tasks during the special military operation on Ukrainian territory.

The transfer of the award was officially confirmed by the administration of Verkhnepogromnoye Rural Settlement (Verkhnepogromnoye rural settlement administration), which recalled only good things about the young man.

— «He studied at our school from first through eleventh grade,» says Viktor’s former class teacher, Lyudmila Makarova. — «He was very modest, an obedient boy. Both girls and boys were friends with him; they called him Vitya. He studied very well — sometimes we were sitting in math and he would turn to me: “Lyudmila Viktorovna, maybe we could solve this problem like this?” He drew very well, took an active part in all school events, learned to play guitar and drums, and went to Volzhsky to train in boxing…»

The teacher recalls that Viktor Tsoi deeply respected his mother, who had been forced to travel to Korea to work.

— «At home he did everything; he was very adept at household work,» the teacher recalls. — «He did everything for the school. You could entrust him with any task — nobody would do it better than Vitya. We were in fifth or sixth grade when I invited the boys of my class to help a neighbor who had recently had an operation, to work in her garden. All the boys said they would come, but in fact only Vitya came. She wondered how such a boy could help her; whatever she asked, he did everything she asked properly. Later, we went to exams in Volzhsky. As we walked toward the school where the exams were being held, Vitya suddenly ran off to the side. I looked and saw a man sitting by a shop asking for alms. Vitya gave that man practically all his money, showing such compassion. A short man in stature, but with a very large heart.»

Teachers recall that Viktor left for the special military operation in September 2022 after receiving a call-up notice under the partial mobilization.

— «After school he enrolled in an institute, but something happened — he dropped out and joined the army,» Lyudmila Makarova says. — «He completed his service. Then the special military operation began. A classmate was alongside him and is still in the special operation zone. He said that commanders tried to spare Vitya — not to send him on missions. Then we learned that it had happened… The mother didn’t believe it until the end; she even refused the ‘hero’s desk.’ For more than a year she and the older son, Vitya’s brother, traveled from hospital to hospital looking for him… In February this year they buried Vitya…»
