St. Petersburg highways closed second day; 4-hour traffic jams reported

On January 26, key highway closures continued in St. Petersburg, which began the day before. On Primorskoye Highway, a traffic jam stretched for 4.6 km, where drivers could lose almost four hours.

On the morning of January 26, traffic was restricted on several important highways in the central districts of the city, as well as on the Petrogradskaya and Vyborgskaya sides.

The closures affected:

  • Primorskoye Highway;
  • Vyborgskaya Embankment;
  • Troitsky Bridge;
  • the Neva River embankments in the city center.

The service Yandex reported an unusually dense traffic jam on Primorskoye Highway from Morskaya station to the shopping center.

The message notes: «The traffic jam stretched for 4.6 km. In it, one can lose 3 hours 48 minutes. Usually, this section can be driven in 1 hour 48 minutes.»

The evening before, on January 25, Liteyny and Troitsky bridges were already closed in the city, which also led to the formation of traffic jams in the center.

During the day on January 25, the governor of Leningrad Oblast Alexander Drozddenko reported on a meeting at Pulkovo Airport with the King of Malaysia Sultan Ibrahim Ismail. The Supreme Ruler of Malaysia had previously, in August, met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
