In Sochi, the large Chaplygin family, who dreamed of their own home, found themselves in a desperate situation: instead of housing, they have a hazardous unfinished building with a sinking foundation and a mortgage debt of almost 6 million rubles (approximately $60,000 at current rates).

In 2024, the family bought a plot of land and turned to a private construction company to build a house. In October of that year, they signed a contract and on the same day took out a mortgage for almost 6 million rubles (approximately $60,000 at current rates). The money was transferred to the contractor in stages, based on certificates of completed work.

However, in 2025, the construction suddenly stopped, and the company representative ceased all contact. As reported by the head of the family, Stanislav Chaplygin, the head of the construction company introduced himself to the family under a false name and during the cooperation managed to receive over 5 million rubles (approximately $50,000 at current rates) from the Chaplygins, providing the bank with fake certificates.

Now, the Chaplygins« house is half-built. It has a frame, roof, and electrical wiring. However, as the people claim, the foundation was installed incorrectly and the house has tilted.

— Among the victims of this dubious firm«s activities are more than 28 people. After receiving the money, the contractor cut off all contact, and the company blocked its social media pages. The official website is currently unavailable, — says the head of the family, Stanislav Chaplygin.

The company«s information in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities (EGRUL) has been deemed unreliable, and its actual presence at the legal address is absent. The victims have collectively appealed to the police, but a criminal case has not yet been initiated. The Chaplygin family has been left without housing and with monthly mortgage payments, while their house remains in a hazardous state.

A court hearing is scheduled for February.
