Sewage Spill Floods Street, Freezes Cars in Nizhny Novgorod

On the evening of January 25, a utility failure occurred on Permyakova Street in Nizhny Novgorod. The road was flooded with sewage, and local residents« cars froze into the ice, according to eyewitness reports on social media.
Dozens of vehicles were caught in the icy trap. The cars« wheels were almost half encased in ice. Some motorists had to free their vehicles using blowtorches — such videos began circulating on social networks.
As NN.RU was informed by the press service of the «United Utility Operator» (UKO), the liquid was pumped from the roadway by five o«clock in the morning, and sewage was no longer flowing out. Utility workers are now clearing the roadway of ice.
Utility failures have gripped the region amid severe frosts. For example, the day before, residents of several streets in Dzerzhinsk were left without hot water and heating. In Novopokrovsky, a flood occurred due to a failure in a private organization«s networks. People»s plots were flooded, and residents had to help utility workers deal with the accident.
