City officials suggested using public Wi-Fi and alternative parking payments during the internet disruption.

On the morning of January 26, a massive mobile internet outage occurred in the central districts of St. Petersburg. According to information, over 300 complaints were received in just one hour, and the total number since the beginning of the day exceeded 1500. Users of all major cellular operators complained about the lack of connection.

As an alternative, one can use city public Wi-Fi hotspots. They are located in a number of districts of St. Petersburg and operate around the clock.

The Ministry of Digital Development has prepared a so-called «white list» of services. These resources will be available even during mobile internet disruptions, without the need for additional identification or CAPTCHA input.

The State Institution «City Parking Management Center of St. Petersburg» reminds that parking can be paid for not only through a mobile application. In case of internet problems, the following options are available:

  • payment via ATM;
  • sending an SMS to number 3065 (the service works for subscribers of Megafon, MTS, Tele2, Beeline, and Yota).

All alternative payment methods, current rates, and rules are posted on the official websites gcup.spb.ru and parking.spb.ru.

Also, several streets in the city center have been closed, leading to traffic jams. Dense congestion is observed on Bolshaya and Malaya Morskaya streets, Gorokhovaya Street, Dvortsovy Proezd towards Nevsky Prospect, and Yakubovich Street towards St. Isaac«s Cathedral. Traffic is difficult on Nevsky Prospect towards Palace Square.
