A large village near Volgograd is enduring the third day of consequences from water discharge at the Volga Hydroelectric Station: heating has fortunately been restored to homes, but the water intake pumps have still not been repaired.
Problems in the village of Zaplavnoye began on January 24. A source from V1.RU said that the pumps supplying the water system broke down due to slush ice that flowed down the rivers after the water discharge.
— Ice got into the pipe, the pump burned out. They installed a second pump, it worked for a while, then also burned out, — the interlocutor said.
After some time, heating also disappeared following the water supply: due to pressure fluctuations in the pipes, the boiler house shut down several times.
— This morning the boiler house stopped again because there isn«t enough water in the system, — the source said on January 25.
However, as clarified by the village and district administration, heating is now working again. Without water, according to the head, apart from the private housing area, a secondary school and five apartment buildings remain. Other institutions (including a boarding home for the disabled) have their own supply systems.
— I can«t say when we»ll fix it. We«re working on it right now. Water delivery has been organized for residents. With heating, everything is already back to normal, — he clarified.
By the way, due to slush ice, two weeks ago two southern districts of Volgograd partially lost water: Sovetsky and Kirovsky. According to the press service of «Concessions», loose ice clogged the pump filters, causing the water intake to stop.
