Alexander Bastrykin, head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, ordered a criminal case to be opened due to an emergency on a pipeline in the Don region. Residents of the cities of Gukovo and Zverevo, as well as a number of settlements in the Krasnosulinsky and Kamensky districts, have been without water supply for five days.
According to the ICR press service, two consecutive accidents occurred on the main pipeline. The department notes that organized delivery of drinking water is insufficient. Moreover, a shortage of bottled water has been recorded in stores.
“Numerous appeals to the competent authorities have yielded no results, and no measures are being taken to complete the repair work,” the Investigative Committee stated.
Alexander Bastrykin instructed Aslan Khuade, head of the Investigative Department of the ICR for the Rostov region, to open a criminal case and report on the progress of the investigation. The central office of the department is monitoring the implementation of the order.
According to regional authorities, repair work is in its final stage. Antonina Pshenichnaya, Minister of Housing and Utilities of the Rostov region, said in her Telegram channel: “The final technological cycle is ongoing: filling the main water pipeline with mandatory pressure testing to check for leaks. Water supply to your homes will begin immediately after successful completion.” Water has already started to be supplied to some areas.
