Dates Announced for 2026 Chkalovskaya Fishing Festival

The Chkalovskaya Fishing Festival will be held on the Gorky Reservoir on 28 February. The full event program will be published in the coming days, the administration of the Chkalovsky district reported.

The Chkalovskaya Fishing Festival has been held in the Nizhny Novgorod Region since 2010. You do not have to be an angler to participate. In addition to sporting tournaments, masterclasses, excursions, and other events are organized on the reservoir.

For those who want to participate in the competitions, several formats are available. The main tournament is the Chkalov Cup, which is held in several stages across different zones of the reservoir. «Klevaya FISHka» (a play on «cool fishing») is organized for foreign guests with no fishing experience. Also on the list of categories are «Fishing Family», «Two Ruffes», «The Wise Minnow», «SVOya Fishing» (a play on «one»s own fishing«), and the »Catch, Little Fish« photo contest.

Judging by the conditions of past years« tournaments, registration and an entry fee are required to participate. The prize fund this year is 1 million rubles (approx. $11,100 at current rates).
