Chibis: Full Power Restoration in Murmansk Region to Take At Least a Week

It could take at least a week to fully restore electricity in the Murmansk Region following an accident. This was stated by the governor of the Murmansk Region, Andrey Chibis, at an operational meeting in the regional government.
«Taking into account all the conditions under which this emergency situation is being resolved, the optimistic scenario is that the work on a temporary scheme, with temporary supports, will take at least 24 hours,» Chibis noted.
He explained that alongside the installation of temporary supports, preparations are underway for the installation of permanent metal structures. The old supports are being dismantled, new ones are being assembled and prepared for delivery to the accident site. Small parts of the supports are being delivered using all-terrain vehicles, including with the support of the Northern Fleet and engineering troops.
The governor noted that working conditions remain extremely difficult — equipment gets stuck, passage is hampered, but the delivery of support elements is already underway. The main structures are planned to be delivered by helicopters, and this work has already been organized.
Andrey Chibis separately emphasized the scale of the accident: five supports are damaged, effectively knocking out three power transmission lines.
Following an inspection of the accident site and reports from specialists, the governor said that the final restoration of electricity supply — not on a temporary scheme, but with the installation of permanent supports — will take significantly more time.
«The full, final scope of restoration work is at least a week. We must understand that too,» Chibis summarized.
