Bastrykin Orders Criminal Case Over Five-Day Water Outage

Water deliveries have been organized for residents but are insufficient to meet the demand.
The head of Russia«s Investigative Committee (SKR), Alexander Bastrykin, has ordered a criminal case to be opened over an accident on a Don River pipeline — residents of two cities and towns in Rostov Oblast have been without water for five days. This was reported by the agency»s press service.
Residents of Gukovo, Zverevo, and settlements in the Krasnosulinsky and Kamensky districts are experiencing their fifth day without water. Two consecutive accidents have occurred on the pipeline.
«At the same time, water deliveries have been organized in insufficient quantities, and stores are also reporting a shortage of bottled water. Numerous appeals to the competent authorities have yielded no results, and no measures are being taken to complete the repair work,» the Investigative Committee reported.
Bastrykin instructed the head of the SKR«s Investigative Directorate for Rostov Oblast, Aslan Khuade, to open a criminal case and report on the investigation»s results. The execution of this order has been placed under the control of the agency«s central office.
Residents have been promised that water will soon be restored to their homes. Repairs are in their final stage. Water has already reached the first districts.
«The final technological cycle is ongoing: filling the main water pipeline with mandatory pressure testing to check for leaks. These are necessary procedures before starting the system. Water supply to your homes will begin immediately after their successful completion,» wrote Rostov Oblast«s Minister of Housing and Communal Services, Antonina Pshenichnaya, in her Telegram channel.
