The price of coffee has risen sharply in Yekaterinburg stores, affecting both instant and ground varieties. The chart shows how prices changed over the past year.

According to Russia«s Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), a year ago in January 2025, a kilogram of instant coffee in Yekaterinburg stores cost 3.6 thousand rubles (about $40 at current rates). By the end of the year, its average price had increased to 4.5 thousand rubles (about $50), a 27% rise.
A sharp price jump occurred in March, when the product became more expensive by over 300 rubles (about $3) in a single month. Prices then remained at roughly the same level for half a year, before growth accelerated again in October.
The price of ground coffee rose by almost 29% over the year—from 2 to 2.6 thousand rubles (about $22 to $29) per kilogram. This product began to increase in price in May, reaching 2.4 thousand rubles (about $27) in August. A drop to 2.2 thousand rubles (about $24) followed in September, before prices began climbing again in October.
At the beginning of 2026, coffee continued to become more expensive. For example, E1.RU reader Tatiana said she bought a 250-gram jar of ground coffee for 673 rubles (about $7) just before New Year«s. Now the same jar costs from 700 to 780 rubles (about $8–$9).
And this is far from the limit. According to the «Kuper» service, 270 grams of Monarch instant coffee cost 1,100 rubles (about $12) at Magnit, while the same jar costs 1,352 rubles (about $15) at Perekryostok. A 500-gram package of Nescafé Gold at Ashan now costs 2,890 rubles (about $32).
Instant coffee is significantly more expensive than ground coffee because producing a kilogram of the instant product requires several kilograms of beans.
Experts warned of rising coffee prices back in the fall of 2024, linking the trend to poor harvests and supply issues. In January 2025, Yekaterinburg coffee shops raised prices for takeaway drinks. Market players said prices would continue to rise.
We previously reported that coffee became one of the most expensive products in 2025.
