They showed wonders of ingenuity and taught important life lessons. Krasnoyarsk residents shared their favorite stories related to their dads.

We launched a survey in honor of Father«s Day on the Telegram channel «NGS24.RU — News of Krasnoyarsk» on the eve of the family holiday, and received a batch of warm memories in response. So, in one of the stories, a dad decided to teach his daughter financial literacy and help her save up for a desired multi-color pen, but at some point everything went off plan.

«I was about 6 years old, my last year in kindergarten. Dad picks me up from kindergarten and buys some newspaper at the «Rospechat» near home. And suddenly I see a pen with many colored refills. For me, it was WOW! I«m going to school soon and I»ll need such a pen! (I thought) As I remember now, it cost 23 rubles 50 kopecks (about $0.24 at current rates). Naturally, I started begging for it, and then dad suggested I save up myself. To teach me financial literacy. We came home, made some piggy bank out of a jar. My treasury wasn«t empty, every day my parents gave me some small change from the change. I counted it every evening. I got hooked on this excitement of »SAVING«. And, oh miracle! Hooray! I saved up! Took that jar and dragged dad to »Rospechat«, we come, and it»s gone — they sold out all. Dad was taken aback, he somehow didn«t foresee such a turn of events, not in his favor. I was upset, of course, even cried, but I learned to save. P.S. After some time, I saw that pen again, but I already had my own money. Thanks dad!», — writes Darya Kirilina.

The fathers of our readers showed wonders of ingenuity when giving gifts as well. One such story stuck with our subscriber Ksenia for life.

«As I remember now, it was the new year of 2005 and dad decided to delight me and mom and give us rings, but… He decided to do it in an original way. Hang our little rings on the Christmas tree (later he regretted it, though). And so the chimes struck 12, we approach the tree and… can«t find the gifts. We felt up the ENTIRE tree! Every branch! But no! The tree wouldn»t just give up our rings. In short, we searched for the gifts for a loooooooooong time. Thank goodness, after some time we finally found them. We laughed for a long time after that. Since then, my favorite proverb is «He who seeks shall find». Wishing everyone well. Take care and love your dads. P.S. My dad passed away in 2010. So many years have passed, and I miss him more and more each year», — writes Ksenia.

For some, the life lessons that dad taught them in early childhood are forever memorable.

«Is a story from half a century ago suitable? Dad and I had a particularly warm relationship, even warmer than with mom. But there was one incident. I«m coming back from school, I don»t remember why already, one of my classmates—a boy—hit me on the back with a backpack. Not so much painful as offensive. A tear rolled down. Dad is coming towards me—he worked as a teacher and was going to school. This conversation took place: D: — What happened? Me: — The boys hit me on the back with a backpack. D: — Don«t mess with them! Me: — I didn»t mess with them! D: — Then fight back! And he calmly went on. So I live by dad«s precept. I don»t mess with others, but I can defend myself. And I still remember and love my daddy», — says Elena.

And, no matter how old our readers are, they still wait for dad with «treats».

«So many warm memories. When I was 5, he went to Germany, and brought me beautiful little shoes and a cool doll! And also, he knows a lot about everything, and we call him a «walking encyclopedia». He always went to parent-teacher meetings. He always brought treats. And he still does. We love him very much. There are five of us (I«m the youngest). My dad is 85!», — says Natalya.

Judging by our readers« comments, often the best memories are the simplest things.

«So much good is connected with dad. His unforgettable stories, most often made up. His pranks, sledding rides, his support in difficult times and joys from meetings. My dad is the best. He«s been gone for 10 years, but he»s still with us», — says Oksana Gerasimenko.

Among those who left comments were also those who, unfortunately, said they had nothing to remember, because there was no dad in their life, or he did not take an active part in upbringing.

In a large feature for Father«s Day, NGS24.RU correspondent Svetlana Chernushevich spoke with fathers who raise children alone, and those who help them, to understand where »invisible fathers« come from in Russia.
