Chelyabinsk father pays alimony debt after court-ordered church work

In Chelyabinsk, a father has fully paid off his alimony debt, exceeding 500,000 rubles (approximately $5,500 at current rates), after completing compulsory work in a church. The court ordered him to perform 30 hours of such work, as reported on January 21 by the press service of the bailiffs.
The Federal Bailiff Service (UFSSP) explained the details of the debt accumulation:
«The debt of 519,000 rubles (about $5,500 at current rates) accumulated during periods when the citizen had no official income. A year ago, he obtained self-employed status, began regularly paying alimony, but the debt did not decrease,»the bailiffs said.
«The citizen owned no property and had no funds in his accounts.»
To encourage the man to pay, the bailiffs applied enforcement measures, including restricting his right to drive a vehicle and holding him administratively liable. As a result, the court ordered compulsory work, which he performed in the church.
After completing the work, the citizen immediately contacted the bailiff.
«Having served his duty, he appeared before the bailiff-executor, took a receipt for payment of the debt, and then transferred the entire amount in a single payment to a deposit account,»the UFSSP reported.
«He asked to have the driving license restriction lifted immediately after the transfer, as his work involves driving a vehicle.»
Earlier, the State Duma proposed the creation of a state alimony fund. The initiative suggests that the fund would pay debts to children from the budget and then recover these funds from non-payers with interest.
