Teen singer from Samara stuns 'Golos' with four-chair turn
A 17-year-old resident of Samara region has won over show business stars. Yulia Gavrilova came to participate in the show «Golos» on Channel One.
The first episode of blind auditions aired on the evening of Friday, 23 January. This season, four mentors are assembling their teams:
Honored Artist of Russia Pelageya;
Singer, composer, and keyboardist Vladimir Presnyakov Jr.;
Popular singer ANNA ASTI;
Opera singer Ildar Abdrazakov.
The last to take the stage in the episode was a fragile brunette — 17-year-old vocalist from a village in Samara region, Yulia Gavrilova. The girl has already been on Channel One: she was a finalist in the eighth season of the show «Golos.Deti» (The Voice Kids).
«In five years, my life has already changed a lot. First, I came here on my own, not with my mom. Of course, I»ve grown vocally, and I entered the Gnessin Music College. I showcase my work on social media,« the performer said about herself.
Yulia shared that she has a little secret.
«I believe that every artist, besides having a voice, should have an external gimmick. For me, it»s long hair since early childhood. I realized that I won«t cut my hair and have been keeping it for 17 years,» Yulia shared.
The singer chose the song «Somebody to Love» by the band Queen.
On the second second of the performance, the first mentor turned for Yulia — Vladimir Presnyakov.
After a couple of moments, Anna Asti followed his example.
Then Pelageya couldn«t hold back.
Last to indicate his choice was Ildar Abdrazakov.
The artists were delighted with Yulia«s voice and performance style. The audience in the hall also didn»t hold back on emotions, applauding, cheering, and whooping.
«Thank you for turning us around, for doing this to people. Thank you for this state, this mood. It was wonderful. I want to say that this isn»t just singing. First of all, I«m not even talking about the good vocal splits, the good delivery, that you»re in the zone, in such a real, magical land, so to speak. Your own. And it was great! I would like you on my team,« Vladimir Presnykov shared emotionally.
He was immediately interrupted by Anna Asti.
«Well, it»s not just you, Vladimir, who would want her on your team,« the show business star stated.
And then Pelageya burst into the conversation.
«Yulia, do you know any Russian folk songs?» the singer asked.
The Samara girl answered affirmatively but asked for her support. Pelageya and Yulia Gavrilova performed a duet excerpt of the song «Ay vy, tsygane» (Oh, You Gypsies).
Abdrazakov and Asti called the girl to their teams, but Yulia immediately chose her mentor.
«Thank you so much for such kind words. But my heart tells me to go to Vladimir Presnyakov,» the vocalist admitted.
When Yulia left the stage, the mentors discussed for a long time how lucky Presnyakov was.
«I congratulate you. That»s great! Guys, well, of course, how super she is overall! What a cool girl! What a cool girl, really. She«s strong. Seventeen, my God, years old. Seventeen! Seventeen!» Pelageya emotionally enthused.
Backstage, Gavrilova shared her feelings.
«I just can»t put it into words. So many nice compliments, the support of the audience!« the girl said.
Yulia«s mother Natalya was incredibly happy.
«I»m having some incredible day today,« the shocked Natalya shared.
