RZD Opens Sales for Victory Day Cruise Train to Volgograd

RZD has opened ticket sales for a tourist train that will connect Moscow and Volgograd ahead of the Victory Day celebration in the Great Patriotic War. Only one train is scheduled, departing from Paveletsky Station on May 8.
According to the tour program, train No. 921/922 is scheduled to depart on May 8 at 14:15, arriving in Volgograd on May 9 at 10:30. A guide will meet guests on the platform and escort them to buses. The program includes a visit to the Museum-Panorama «Battle of Stalingrad» and Mamayev Kurgan, a walk along the Alley of Heroes. Also planned is a sightseeing tour from the Volga River — a boat excursion is also included in the price. As special bonuses, the organizers mention passing under the «dancing» bridge on the boat and the opportunity to see the monument to rivermen, being installed opposite the Museum-Panorama «Battle of Stalingrad».
Then tourists are taken to dinner, then to the station. The train departs for Moscow at 22:58, arriving in the capital at 21:55 on May 10.
The cost of a tour package for one person in a four-berth compartment is 41,200 rubles (about $412), in a two-berth compartment — 65,400 rubles (about $654). One person can fully book a two-berth compartment. In this case, the tour to Volgograd will cost 117,300 rubles (about $1,200). A child«s ticket, required for passengers aged 0 to 9 years, costs 40,700 rubles in a four-berth compartment and 64,900 rubles in a two-berth compartment (about $407 and $649, respectively). If a child travels without a seat and breakfast on the train, then 15,500 rubles must be paid regardless of which compartment the seat is purchased in (about $155). If desired, an additional seat in a four-berth compartment can be purchased. This will cost 24,600 rubles (about $246).
Recall that earlier, the company «Vodokhod» started selling tour packages for a Victory Day cruise. A tour departing from Samara on the ship «Sergey Kuchkin» will cost, depending on the cabin, from 41,667 to 102,600 rubles per person (about $417 to $1,000 at current rates).
