In early 2026, the resorts of Krasnodar Krai look particularly unusual — snow has fallen in Anapa and Gelendzhik, Cypress Lake has frozen over with a crust of ice, and in Primorsko-Akhtarsk, a skating rink has formed on the embankment due to severe black ice.

Additional social media footage captures the extensive ice formation along the town«s embankment.

“Why do we need a rink at Rockefeller Center when we have Akhtari,” writes one of the skaters.

The ice is so thick that walking in regular shoes is impossible on the sidewalks.

Note that the rink appeared on the embankment unplanned. The sidewalks have been covered with a crust of ice after the freeze, but locals don’t understand why the administration can’t use sand.

“Not only the embankment, you can confidently skate on the streets, it’s a total attraction,” says a local resident.

Recall that a brief warm spell of up to +15°C (59°F) is coming to Krasnodar Krai, but then February frosts of down to -15°C (5°F) will set in.
