Perm residents have animated Sergei Prokudin-Gorsky’s photographs of Cherdyn (Perm Krai, Russia). The old houses look as if they’ve stepped onto film. They added natural ambient sound, producing very calming sequences.

Sergei Prokudin-Gorsky was born in Vladimir Governorate in 1863 and died in Paris in 1944. He was the first in Russia to make color photographs using his own shooting method, traveled to many cities in Russia and the world, and captured them on camera. In 1948, part of the photographer’s images was purchased by the U.S. Library of Congress, but they began publishing them much later. Recently, they appeared for the first time on a 3D platform in Russia in high quality.

The renowned photographer also visited Prikamye (Perm Krai region). He recorded pre-revolutionary Perm, and photographed Solikamsk, Nyrob, and Cherdyn. Enthusiasts from Perm have animated Prokudin-Gorsky’s photos from Cherdyn.
