The grand opening ceremony for the museum-apartment of Alisa Zinovyevna Rosenbaum (Ayn Rand) took place on February 2, her birthday. The future author of the philosophy of Objectivism and influential novels lived in this apartment at 120 Nevsky Prospect before departing for the United States in 1926.
Dmitry Pavlov, the museum«s founder, an entrepreneur and deputy of the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly, said that Mikhail Kravtsov, president of the Ayn Rand Foundation, provided him with information about the apartment»s history. «We met six years ago when he called and, through mutual acquaintances, conveyed that they had done historical research and determined that Ayn Rand lived most frequently at 120 Nevsky Prospect, this exact apartment. Incidentally, the stove from that time has been preserved and can even be seen in the background of some photographs,» Pavlov recounted.
According to the creators« vision, the memorial space should also become a center for intellectual discussions. Currently, the museum features photographs, archival documents, and biographical materials dedicated to the life and work of the writer, who gained worldwide fame after the publication of the novels »The Fountainhead« (1943) and »Atlas Shrugged« (1957).
