Specialists from the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI RAS) had warned about the occurrence of a giant colorful curtain, including over Siberia.
Moreover, the aurora also occurred on the night of January 20, but it was well seen by residents of other parts of Russia. The recent radiation storm has been called the strongest of the 21st century.
Afterwards, the laboratory forecasted a decline in geomagnetic activity, which is welcomed by weather-sensitive Kuzbass residents. Indeed, over the past two days, the storms reached G4 level — strong — several times.
A general practitioner explained how to protect oneself during magnetic storms, in particular, recommending not to overeat or drink alcohol. Also, it is advisable to sleep more than 7 hours if possible and drink water throughout the day.
