Voronezh Oblast schools move online due to severe frosts

Two hundred schools in Voronezh Oblast have placed only grades 1–4 on remote learning due to the cold.
On February 2, more than a third of schools in Voronezh Oblast switched to remote learning. This was reported to Voronezh1.ru by the regional Ministry of Education.
Out of 602 schools in the oblast: 372 schools are operating normally in-person, 200 schools have shifted students in grades 1–4 to remote learning, and 30 schools have moved all students from grades 1 to 11 to a remote format.
Earlier, Voronezh Mayor Sergei Petrin reported that on February 2 and 3, city schools are sending elementary school students to remote learning. Children who have no one to leave them at home are welcome to come to school. Kindergartens are operating as usual, but parents were asked to avoid bringing children in severe cold if possible.
Across the oblast, temperature thresholds recommended by the Ministry of Education for canceling classes are in effect:
At –25°C (–13°F) and below — for grades 1–4;
At –27°C (–17°F) and below — for grades 5–8;
At –29°C (–20°F) and below — for grades 9–11.
The final decision to switch to remote learning or cancel classes is made by the administration of each school.
