In a world where social media occupies more of our time and artificial intelligence is being integrated into all spheres of life, being a teacher is not an easy task. Nevertheless, Andrey Grigoryev handles it brilliantly. The educator from Dzerzhinsk has been teaching history and social studies for over 15 years and also runs a large educational center. Recently, he became a blogger, shooting videos about his work on TikTok, where he shows a teacher«s daily routine and jokes about current topics.

Andrey dreamed of becoming a teacher since childhood and essentially never considered any other professions for himself. After graduating from Nizhny Novgorod Pedagogical University, he moved to Bogorodsk, where he worked as a teacher for ten years. Then, homesickness for his hometown took its toll, and he returned. Now he manages his own educational center, shoots videos about his work, and until recently also taught at what he considers the best school in Dzerzhinsk.

In his videos, Andrey shows how his lessons typically go. He jokes with the kids, quizzes them using a randomizer, throws a plush goose named Lavrenty at underperforming students, and sometimes records dances with pupils to viral songs. The kids happily participate in the filming and occasionally suggest ideas for new videos to their teacher. But despite such easy-going communication with teenagers, the educator clearly sets boundaries and does not allow overfamiliarity.

He is convinced there is no single correct way to be a good teacher—each should have their own special superpower. Andrey sees his in caring. Teachers often have to give students failing grades or make them learn material, but they do it for the students« own good.

«It«s a misconception to think we put in the effort only for a bonus or to avoid a reprimand for poor results. No, many teachers actually give a damn about your kids. In adult life, the vast majority of people won»t be interested in your children anymore, but we try, we spend energy and nerves. Because we understand it«s our job,» Grigoryev says.

Recently, the Dzerzhinsk resident quit his school job to focus on his family and his own business. He doesn«t yet know what fate awaits his blog further, as this activity takes up too much time. Read the full interview with the teacher-blogger here.
