Students to Travel Moscow-Vladivostok to Grasp Russia's Size

A train journey from Moscow to Vladivostok with stops and excursions in various cities along the way has been proposed for inclusion in the school curriculum. This would give every schoolchild a chance to better get to know their country, TASS reports, citing Deputy Secretary of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation Vladislav Grib.
He proposes sending schoolchildren on a train along the Moscow — Vladivostok route annually. In his view, this will help children grasp the geography and size of Russia, as well as get acquainted with the cultural diversity of the country«s peoples. This journey should become mandatory for all schoolchildren during their education. He suggests partially funding the excursions through the state, regional authorities, and parents.
According to Grib, during the journey, which will take 12–14 days with stops, children should be taught about the country, its history, and cultural diversity. «You can look at a map of Russia for a long time and not understand its scale. But you can travel across the entire country in two weeks and realize its greatness, cultural wealth, and natural beauty.»
