Frost in Yekaterinburg Sends Students to Remote Learning

Due to the frost, some schools in Yekaterinburg have switched to distance learning.
Anomalous frost has arrived in Yekaterinburg — temperatures in the city have dropped below -30 degrees Celsius (-22°F). Some children have officially been allowed to skip school.

The city administration told E1.RU that schools No. 24, 146, 151, 13, and 28 are fully closed for distance learning due to the severe cold. Children will start attending classes again when it warms up a bit.
On January 23 and 24, students of the Specialized Educational and Scientific Center of Ural Federal University (SUNTS UrFU) will study from home. This information was confirmed to E1.RU by Academic Director Maxim Ryabtsev.
Parents are guided by the education department«s order »On the Organization of the Educational Process During Periods of Low Temperatures.« The document specifies under what weather conditions a child can be kept home from school.
Meteorologists say that the frost was brought by an anticyclone. And temperatures of around -30°C (-22°F) on the Urals will persist in the coming days, until Saturday, January 24. We reported live on how Yekaterinburg endured today«s frost.
