In Kuzbass, not all of the region«s largest businesses are based in its capital, Kemerovo. Some leading organizations are located in Novokuznetsk and other cities in the oblast.

Nevertheless, for a significant number of enterprises, the head offices are in Kemerovo, through which tens of billions of rubles pass annually. The editorial team of NGS42.RU has determined who exactly forms the top tier of business and who owns these companies.

The list includes organizations officially registered in Kemerovo with the highest revenue for 2024, according to the Kontur.Focus service. The fertilizer producer Kemerovo Azot Joint Stock Company (KAO Azot) did not make the ranking, as it has not publicly reported its financial indicators for the fourth year in a row.

10. IBEM LLC

At the very start of the top 10 is a Kemerovo auto dealer. The company sells UAZ, Kia, Chery, Tenet, Geely, and some other brands in the Kuzbass capital; moreover, under the brand of the M53 auto center, it helps customers find options in the used vehicle market. The organization has its own maintenance and auto tuning points.

For 2024, the revenue of IBEM LLC was 13.7 billion rubles (approximately $137 million at current rates). However, for the first time in a long while, it operated at a loss—the net loss reached 206.6 million rubles (approximately $2.07 million at current rates).

The main founders of the company with shares of 37.5% each are Andrey Tkachenko and Bari Kanteev, while 25% belongs to Denis Pronin. All three are also co-owners of another car sales company, Proavto LLC, only in that one, the largest share is held by Pronin at 63.2%, and his partners own 18.4% each.

9. SDS-Ugol JSC

Among the largest organizations in Kemerovo is the head enterprise of the coal division of the Siberian Business Union holding. It controls several subsidiary legal entities under which the Listvyazhnaya and Yuzhnaya mines, the Chernigovsky, Pervomaysky, and Vostochny open-pit mines operate in Kuzbass, as well as a service center, project office, and trading company.

Last year, SDS-Ugol JSC reported revenue of 14.4 billion rubles (approximately $144 million at current rates). The net loss is estimated at 5.2 billion rubles (approximately $52 million at current rates).

The main shareholder of the company is considered to be Mikhail Fedyaev, chairman of the board of directors of the entire SDS holding, who in March was sentenced to three and a half years of probation in the case of the explosion and mass deaths at the Listvyazhnaya mine in November 2021. We detailed his career and business assets in a separate article.

8. Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Kemerovo LLC

The company is involved in delivering natural gas to enterprises and residents in various cities of Kuzbass. According to its website, over 60% of supplies go to Kemerovo Azot, about 10%—to the Topkinsky Cement plant, about 28%—to other companies. The population accounts for approximately 1.5%.

In 2024, Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Kemerovo LLC accumulated revenue of 17.4 billion rubles (approximately $174 million at current rates). The net profit amounted to 1.7 billion rubles (approximately $17 million at current rates).

7. Kemerovospetsstroy JSC

The seventh largest company by turnover in Kemerovo is in construction. In recent years, it has won several of the largest Kuzbass tenders for the construction and major repairs of large facilities. These include a new road to the Sheregesh resort for 5.1 billion rubles, a bridge over the Tom River in Kemerovo for 2.5 billion rubles, and the Defenders of Donbass Square in Novokuznetsk for 1.1 billion rubles.

6. SDS-Stroy LLC

In the middle of our list, we again find construction companies. The difference between Kemerovospetsstroy and SDS-Stroy is that in recent years, the former in Kuzbass has mainly secured large tenders for roads and public areas, while the latter—for buildings. For example, it was SDS-Stroy that won the auction for the construction of a school in Novokuznetsk for 4.8 billion rubles and a rehabilitation center in Kemerovo for 3 billion rubles.

In 2024, the organization«s revenue was 31.8 billion rubles (approximately $318 million at current rates). The net profit reached 45.8 million rubles (approximately $458,000 at current rates).

The actual owner of SDS-Stroy is considered to be the same head of the SDS holding, Mikhail Fedyaev. Formally, the company«s founders are legal entities registered in the name of his sister, Svetlana Rybalchenko.

5. Kuzbassenergosbyt PJSC

In fifth place is the leading electricity supplier in the region, including in its largest cities, Kemerovo and Novokuznetsk. The company delivers the resource to both residents and enterprises.

Last year, Kuzbassenergosbyt PJSC operated with revenue of 33.9 billion rubles (approximately $339 million at current rates). The organization recorded a net profit of 338.8 million rubles (approximately $3.39 million at current rates).

The company belongs to the structure of the mining and metallurgical holding Mechel of billionaire Igor Zyuzin, who was previously on the Forbes list. In July, the parent company announced plans to sell energy assets in Kemerovo Oblast, including Kuzbassenergosbyt, but subsequently, no deals in this direction were reported.

4. Tibet Trading Company LLC

Perhaps the most mysterious participant in our ranking is engaged in wholesale and retail sales of food products. It has been operating since 2015 but previously did not attract much attention.

In 2024, the revenue of Tibet Trading Company LLC unexpectedly jumped compared to 2023, from 38.9 million rubles to 44.7 billion rubles (approximately $447 million at current rates). The net profit for the same period increased from 2.4 million rubles to 3.4 billion rubles (approximately $34 million at current rates).

The founder of Tibet is listed as Vladimir Shnyagin. He also works as an individual entrepreneur, managing several small grocery stores in Topki.

3. Modern Mining Technologies LLC

Opening the top three is a company that does not extract minerals itself but helps others do so, earning well from it. The organization prepares sites for enterprises in Kuzbass and other regions, conducting drilling and blasting and other preparatory work there.

For last year, the revenue of Modern Mining Technologies LLC was 52 billion rubles (approximately $520 million at current rates). The net profit is estimated at 2.7 billion rubles (approximately $27 million at current rates).

The main founder of the company is Ravil Dautov. He also controls another organization in the structure, SGT-Sibir LLC. Additionally, Dautov serves as general director and one of the shareholders of Mining Solutions JSC, which sells special equipment and spare parts for the mining industry.

2. Vostok-VED LLC

In second place is one of the enterprises of the KDV holding of entrepreneur Denis Shtengelov, who in October, along with his father and wife, was recognized by the court as an extremist association, banned from activities in the Russian Federation, and ordered to seize all his assets in favor of the state.

Vostok-VED is the trade and logistics division of the holding, concluding contracts with wholesalers and organizing product transportation. Last year, the company reported revenue of 56.3 billion rubles (approximately $563 million at current rates) and a net profit of 4.6 billion rubles (approximately $46 million at current rates).

How the transfer to state ownership will affect the organization«s work is still unknown.

1. UK Kuzbassrazrezugol JSC

Topping the list is one of the largest coal companies not only in Kuzbass but in Russia. It manages the Baikaimskaya mine and six open-pit mines in Kemerovo Oblast—Kaltansky, Taldinsky, Kedrovsky, Mokhovskiy, Bachatsky, and Krasnobrodsky.

In 2024, the revenue of UK Kuzbassrazrezugol JSC was 196.5 billion rubles (approximately $1.965 billion at current rates). The net profit reached 12.5 billion rubles (approximately $125 million at current rates).
