Over 40 benefits and payments to rise in Russia from February 1

In Russia, from February 1, over 40 benefits and payments will increase as they are indexed by 5.6%. The list includes maternity capital, a one-time allowance for the birth or adoption of a child, a monthly childcare allowance for non-working parents up to 1.5 years, a monthly cash payment for federal beneficiaries, and others.
‘From February 1, 2026, more than 40 payments, benefits, and compensations will be indexed based on the actual consumer price index for the previous year. In 2026, the indexation coefficient will be 1.056, meaning payments will increase by 5.6%,’ according to a statement from the Ministry of Labor.
The amount of maternity capital will be increased for all who have not yet used the funds from the certificate. For example, upon first application, the payment will rise to almost 729,000 rubles (approximately $7,700 at current rates; an increase of over 38,000 rubles or about $400). The enhanced maternity capital for a second child will be 963,000 rubles (approximately $10,100) if it has not been claimed before (an increase of 51,000 rubles or about $540). The remaining funds in already active certificates will also be indexed.
Maternity (family) capital is a cash payment provided by the state upon the birth or adoption of children. The program has been in effect since 2007 and is scheduled to run through 2030 inclusive.
Other payments to families with children will also increase from February 1. This list includes:
- a monthly childcare allowance for non-working parents up to one and a half years;
- a one-time allowance for the birth of a child — up to 28,500 rubles (approximately $300 at current rates);
- a payment for the adoption of a disabled child, a child over 8 years old, or several siblings will exceed 217,000 rubles (approximately $2,300 at current rates).
Also in February, the benefit for women awarded the title «Mother Heroine» will increase. The monthly supplement for this benefit is 72,403.79 rubles (approximately $760 at current rates).
Changes have been made to the system of compulsory social insurance for industrial accidents, which provide for the following increases in payments:
- The maximum amount of a one-time insurance payment will be 163,600 rubles (approximately $1,700 at current rates).
- The maximum size of the temporary disability benefit (sick leave) — 503,000 rubles (approximately $5,300 at current rates).
- The maximum monthly payment for permanent loss of working capacity — 125,800 rubles (approximately $1,300 at current rates).
Moreover, this year, new rules come into effect that tighten the conditions for receiving the unified child benefit. These changes will not affect everyone but could lead to the loss of payments for several categories of families. What exactly will change, who should be prepared, and how to retain the right to state support, we explained here.
