'Explain 25,000 rubles?' Residents suggest actions for card blocks

An article on the possible blocking of cards due to transfers to oneself sparked heated discussions among Novosibirsk residents. Some were dissatisfied with such security measures, while others considered them justified. We publish their comments.
«So, by transferring money from my pension account to my savings account, I have to explain the origin of these huge 25,000 rubles (about $250 at current rates)?» a Novosibirsk resident exclaims.
User Olka described her story: «We barely managed to transfer money to another city for lock picking. The management company calls, yelling that we are flooding. We can«t come — it»s beyond the Urals to fly. We called a service, but they won«t open the door until we pay. The water keeps flowing, and our transfer is stuck. Well, thanks for the care, of course.»
Other readers are outraged by examples that sometimes, when pensioners transfer millions to fraudsters, banks may not intervene. Meanwhile, when people transfer some small amount to themselves, it raises suspicions.
Many readers stated that it is safer to keep money in cash than on cards.
«Keep a living amount under the mattress, preferably in foreign currency. It reminds me of how the savings bank cheated my parents. All savings vanished. Money for a car turned into money for a radio,» writes a guest.
Another commenter is determined: he believes that at the first card blocking, one should close the bank account without further investigation.
Another reader replied to him that closing the account is possible, but the question remains where to open a new one. Because now, in his opinion, it is not so easy.
One person stated that he is not against the fact that his transfers are protected in this way.
Earlier, we reported how Novosibirsk residents discussed that cards can be blocked even for small amounts.
